After the fight at Windknight's Lot, Jonathan burns away Dio's body with everything the Ripple can give. Dio survives as a head, and with his servant Wang Chan he hides aboard the liner carrying Jonathan and Erina on their honeymoon. Nearly decapitated, Jonathan clutches Dio as the ship's explosives go off and sinks into the sea with him. Erina survives with a rescued baby while Jonathan's coffin is swallowed by the current. Fifty years later in New York, her grandson Joseph Joestar becomes the second JoJo and a new adventure begins.
